The Drop - Shrewsbury

Participants can choose between two distances: 15 miles or 10 miles, either as a solo runner or part of a team. At registration, you’ll hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids in exchange for a race number and an emergency bag that must remain sealed throughout the event.
The journey begins with a bus ride to an undisclosed drop-off location where you will be required to wear either a blackout blindfold or safety goggles if needed. Once off the bus, your challenge is to find your way back to the event center using only your wits and sense of direction. The distance between start and finish points is measured as the crow flies, but the actual route can vary significantly.
Throughout the race, you’ll face a series of obstacles:
- No maps or GPS assistance.
- No compasses allowed.
- You must complete the course under your own power without shortcuts.
Rules are strict: breaking them will result in immediate disqualification. The emergency bag provided at registration should be kept sealed and returned to staff upon completion or withdrawal from the race. Any breach of these rules, such as using unauthorized maps or tampering with the emergency kit, will lead to automatic removal from the event.
For those interested in sharing their experience live, a GPS tracking system is available for an additional fee. This optional feature allows friends and family to follow your progress via a password-protected link on our website. The trackers are accurate within 5 meters but may encounter delays or signal issues depending on environmental factors like tall buildings and limited satellite visibility.
At the finish line, all participants must return their tracking devices to event staff; failure to do so will result in a £175 replacement fee.
