The Drop - Manchester

The Drop is an intense and unpredictable navigation challenge that strips away all familiar race elements—no marked routes, no directions, no maps—to immerse participants in pure uncertainty. On October 24, 2027, runners will be transported to a secret location and tasked with finding their way back to the event center on foot without any navigational aids or assistance.
Participants can choose between three distances: The Drop at either 10 miles or 15 miles (measured as the crow flies), and for non-locals only, The Drop 6. Each option requires competitors to rely solely on their instincts and survival skills while navigating through unfamiliar terrain.
Upon registration, all electronic devices must be handed over, leaving participants with just a race number and an emergency bag that they carry throughout the challenge. This event emphasizes self-reliance as runners are blindfolded before being dropped at their starting point, ensuring complete disorientation.
The 15-mile option is designed for those seeking the ultimate test of endurance and decision-making under pressure, while the shorter 10-mile version offers a more concise yet equally challenging experience. The Drop 6 caters specifically to first-time participants from outside the area, aiming to level the playing field by excluding locals with intimate knowledge of the landscape.
Safety is paramount at The Drop, as evidenced by live GPS tracking provided for both participant safety and optional sharing with loved ones via a secure login system. This technology ensures that help can be dispatched if needed while also allowing supporters to follow participants’ progress from afar.
The event’s core ethos revolves around embracing chaos and uncertainty, pushing individuals beyond their comfort zones in search of the most direct path home. It's not about speed but rather resilience and adaptability—qualities put to the test across miles of uncharted territory on a single day that challenges every participant differently.
