The Drop is an exhilarating challenge that strips away all traditional elements of navigation and racing, leaving you with nothing but your wits and determination to find your way back home. This unique experience starts the moment you step onto the bus blindfolded, heading towards an unknown location miles from the event center. Participants have three options: The Drop 6, The Drop 10, and The Drop 15 — each offering a distinct level of difficulty based on distance. All routes are measured "as the crow flies," meaning your actual journey will be significantly longer due to the lack of direct paths and navigation aids. The core challenge lies in navigating without any maps, GPS devices, or compasses. You'll rely solely on intuition, instinct, and perhaps a bit of luck as you make crucial decisions along the way. The Drop 15 is designed for seasoned adventurers seeking an extended mental and physical test, while the Drop 10 offers a more compact yet equally intense experience. For those new to the area or unfamiliar with local terrain, The Drop 6 provides a shorter but no less challenging route. This version ensures that all participants start on equal footing by prohibiting anyone who lives locally from participating — keeping uncertainty and fairness at the heart of the challenge. Upon registration, you'll hand over your electronic devices, watches, and any navigational aids to ensure strict adherence to the rules. In return, you receive a race number and an emergency bag that must remain sealed throughout the event. Once deployed by bus with blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives, participants are dropped off at their respective distances from the finish line. The moment your blindfold comes off marks the start of your journey back home. You'll face numerous decisions without any guidance — whether to run, walk, or crawl is entirely up to you. The absence of traditional navigation tools means every step must be carefully considered, as shortcuts and assistance are strictly prohibited. Safety remains a priority; participants can opt for live GPS tracking provided by the event organizers at an additional cost. This feature allows friends and family to follow your progress in real-time via a password-protected link on our website. The trackers need to be returned after the race or face a £175 replacement fee if lost. The Drop is not just about reaching the finish line; it's about embracing uncertainty, pushing past mental barriers, and experiencing an unparalleled sense of accomplishment when you finally make your way back home. Are you ready for this unforgettable adventure?
