The Drop - Aberystwyth

The Drop – an exhilarating and demanding race that challenges the limits of your endurance and navigation skills! This unique UK event offers two distances: 10 miles or 15 miles, both measured as the crow flies but with actual running routes potentially longer.
Registration begins by handing over all electronic devices and navigational aids. In return, participants receive a race number and an emergency bag containing essential supplies for their journey ahead. The adventure starts when you board the bus to your undisclosed drop-off point, where you will be fitted with either a blackout blindfold or alternative safety goggles if necessary.
Once off the bus, competitors are on their own, tasked with finding their way back to the event center using only their wits and sense of direction. No maps, no GPS, no compass – just your instincts guiding you through an unpredictable terrain. The race is designed to test resilience and resourcefulness under challenging conditions.
Participants must adhere strictly to the rules: no use of any navigational aids or shortcuts are allowed. Breaking these regulations will result in immediate disqualification. To ensure compliance, all devices must be sealed inside the emergency bag provided at registration.
For those interested in live tracking during their run, an optional GPS system is available for a fee. This feature allows friends and family to follow your progress through a password-protected link on the event website. The trackers are accurate within 5 metres but can experience delays or signal loss depending on environmental factors like tall buildings or poor placement.
