The Doone Run 2026

The Doone Run, organised by Ilfracombe Running Club since 1983, invites trail runners to experience one of Exmoor National Park's most captivating routes. This 10-mile race winds through the scenic landscapes from Watersmeet to the Valley of the Rocks in Lynmouth, offering a mix of coastal paths and wooded riverside trails that challenge even the most seasoned athletes.
Participants will navigate an unusual course featuring roads, paths, and rugged terrain, ensuring a varied physical test for all levels. The run is not just about personal achievement; it also supports ChemoHero, a North Devon charity providing comfort boxes to chemotherapy patients on their first treatment journey.
Safety is paramount at the Doone Run, with a strict 1-hour 20-minute cut-off time at the halfway point of The Olde Cottage Inn. Those who do not meet this deadline will be withdrawn from the race for safety reasons and to ensure marshals are relieved in sometimes inclement weather conditions.
The event holds full Trail Running Association permit No: 8103, open only to runners aged 16 or older. Race numbers must be collected on-site at Race HQ before the start time of 11:00am. All participants will receive a medal upon completion, and age category winners are awarded special recognition.
Chip timing ensures accurate results for all competitors, with first male and female finishers inscribed in the prestigious Doone Run trophy lineage. As spots fill up quickly due to its popularity (limited to 250 entrants), early registration is highly recommended.
Race information will be emailed a week before the event date, providing essential details about race day logistics and safety measures. Deferrals or refunds are not available once entry has been confirmed unless your spot can be reallocated by organizers post-race full capacity.
