The Combe Crawler 2026

Immerse yourself in one of North Devon's most beloved trail running events, the 2026 Combe Crawler. Organized by Ilfracombe Running Club and set for Tuesday, September 1st, this challenging race offers runners a unique blend of terrain and breathtaking views.
The course spans an exhilarating 8.5 miles through rugged coastal paths, dense woodlands, open fields, and picturesque vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see. The route is meticulously marshalled to ensure safety and support for all participants.
Participants will start and finish at Ilfracombe Football Club (EX34 8AB), with a chip-timed system in place to capture every runner's performance accurately. This race not only celebrates athletic prowess but also contributes to the cause of The Penguin Sports Foundation, which provides vital sport and rehabilitation opportunities for children with physical disabilities in North Devon and beyond.
The event is open exclusively to runners aged 16 years or older, as per Trail Running Association permit No: 8633. With a limited capacity of just 200 entrants, early registration is crucial to secure your spot on this unforgettable journey through the heart of Ilfracombe’s natural beauty.
Race information will be distributed via email one week before the event date, ensuring that all participants are well-prepared for their adventure. Race numbers can be collected from Race HQ at the start/finish location on race day itself.
Please note that due to the challenging nature and limited capacity of this event, it is essential that entrants commit fully to running most of the course. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants while minimizing unnecessary strain on our dedicated marshals who will be stationed along the route throughout November’s weather conditions.
