The 13th ERN LP Run

The Edinburgh Running Network is thrilled to announce the return of its beloved LP RUN, set for Saturday, September 26th, 2026 at Meadowmill Sports Centre near Tranent. This annual event offers runners an opportunity to experience the camaraderie and joy that comes from running on a track while enjoying music tailored by participants themselves.
Inspired by one of Houston’s longest-running races, this unique format challenges entrants to complete as many laps around the track as possible during 33 minutes and 20 seconds—equivalent to the speed at which vinyl records rotate. As runners push their limits, they are accompanied by a personalized soundtrack created from music nominations submitted upon entry.
This year’s theme is "tracks from our youth," inviting participants to share tunes that resonate with memories of earlier days. The event promises an eclectic mix spanning various decades and genres, ensuring everyone finds familiar sounds to motivate them through the race.
Proceeds from the LP RUN will benefit The Junction—a charity dedicated to supporting young people in North East Edinburgh by providing a safe space for growth and development. By participating, runners not only challenge themselves but also contribute positively towards improving youth health and wellbeing.
Post-race festivities include tea, coffee, and an array of homemade cakes brought by participants. This communal gathering fosters a sense of community among runners while offering the chance to vie for star baker awards in both adult and junior categories.
Additionally, there are special races designed for young athletes with 100m and 400m events scheduled at noon on race day. These activities welcome families and encourage children to engage in competitive sports from a young age.
The event also features kit swap stations where runners can donate old running gear to give it new life, as well as optional fancy dress options that add an element of fun and creativity to the experience.
Registration for this Scottish Athletics Track and Field Permit Event includes entry into both races and the post-event celebration. T-shirts celebrating the retro theme are available for pre-order until August 31st at £12.50.
