Lilla's Revenge, presented by SilverBackTrails, returns to the captivating North York Moors for another thrilling 10-mile trail run. This challenging course follows part of the iconic Lyke Wake Walk and takes runners through some of England’s most historic landscapes. The route begins at a lay-by on the A171 above Jugger Howe, where participants will collect their numbers and maps starting from 10 am. The race kicks off promptly at 11 am, with canine companions welcome but required to start five minutes later due to safety concerns around grazing sheep in the area. As runners navigate through rugged terrain, they'll encounter Lilla Howe, home to an ancient cross dating back over a millennium and Louven Howe, believed to be a Neolithic/Bronze Age burial site. The trail then descends gently towards Jugger Beck before ascending onto Jugger Moor once more. Throughout the journey, participants are treated to panoramic views stretching from Whitby’s coastline to Scarborough Castle and beyond. While the route offers stunning vistas, it also presents navigational challenges that require careful attention to flags and occasional marshals for guidance. Runners must be prepared with their own supplies of water, snacks, and emergency gear as there will only be refreshments at the finish line after three hours or less. Upon crossing the finish line, participants not only conquer the course but also face a final sting – an event-specific challenge designed to test both mental and physical resolve. Each competitor receives a custom-designed medal marking their achievement in this unique race. Registration is limited to 50 runners, with entries available exclusively through SiEntries prior to the day of the event. Parking at the start point is free but requires a £1 per car donation on site for the National Park fund. With its blend of history, natural beauty, and rigorous trail conditions, Lilla's Revenge promises an unforgettable experience for seasoned trail runners looking for more than just another race.
