About the Event

The 31st edition of the Swiss Canyon Trail by Kailas FUGA takes place from 29 to 31 May 2026 in Couvet, Val-de-Travers, Switzerland. Located close to the French border in the Swiss Jura, this must-attend event brings together more than 3,000 runners each year across five distances: 111K, 81K, 51K, 31K, and 16K (also open to Nordic Walking). Since 1994, the Swiss Canyon Trail has been celebrating history, authenticity, and the original spirit of trail running amidst spectacular canyon landscapes.

The Swiss Canyon Trail delivers demanding courses through the Val-de-Travers, where ancestral legends meet panoramic views and cultural heritage. Runners experience a unique combination of sport, culture, and nature in the Swiss Jura. The 16K distance is also open to Nordic Walking participants. Since 2026, the organization has also hosted Switzerland's first women-only trail race, the Swiss Women's Trail, scheduled for 12 September 2026.

Registration is open for all distances until 17 May 2026, with continued availability during the last week and on-site. All races start and finish in Couvet, with courses that have made the Swiss Canyon Trail one of the first trail events in Europe—originally called the Trail de l'Absinthe before 2015. The event celebrates 30 years of existence and continues to honor the original spirit of trail running.

Participants can gear up at the official shop, featuring technical apparel, accessories, and exclusive pieces designed for performance on the trails and in everyday life. The event is supported by title sponsor Kailas FUGA, gold sponsor Gruyère AOP, and multiple silver, bronze, regional, institutional, and public community sponsors.

Nutrition is highlighted as the "fourth discipline" of trail running, and the event encourages runners to prepare accordingly. The Swiss Canyon Trail community extends across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, with active updates leading up to race weekend.
