On September 13, 2026, the picturesque town of Abbeville will host an exhilarating day of running and walking events at its historic hippodrome. The venue offers a scenic backdrop for runners and walkers to enjoy the beauty of nature while challenging themselves on various trail courses.
The event kicks off early in the morning with the longest distance: the 31km trail race, setting out from the hippodrome at 8:00 AM sharp. This course features an elevation gain of 427 meters and is a true test for experienced runners looking to push their limits over hilly terrain.
For those who prefer shorter distances, two additional trails await. The 18.5km trail begins shortly after the longer race at 9:15 AM with an ascent of 255 meters, while the more accessible 12.5km option starts just five minutes later, offering a climb of 172 meters.
A family-friendly walking event also takes place on this day for those who wish to enjoy the outdoors in a leisurely manner. The nature walk covers 12.5 kilometers with an elevation gain similar to that of the shorter running trails, providing scenic views and fresh air as participants make their way through serene landscapes.
Children are not left out either, with a dedicated kids' race scheduled for noon at the hippodrome grounds.
The event is open to runners aged sixteen or older and walkers twelve years old and above. Entry fees vary depending on the distance: €28 for adults (€25 for licensed athletes) in the 31km category; €17 (€15 for members) for the intermediate trail covering 18.5 kilometers, and €12 (€10 for members) for the shorter route of 12.5 kilometers. The walking event costs a mere €10 per participant.
Competitors in all categories can look forward to exciting prizes. In each distance category, top male and female finishers will be awarded medals along with first-place cadets or cadettes where applicable. Additionally, there are cash rewards for the winners of various age groups in both the 18.5km and 31km races.
To ensure a smooth experience, all runners receive timed bibs equipped with RFID chips provided by Chronopale. These devices help track performance throughout the course and at key checkpoints along each route. Participants are advised to bring reusable cups for hydration stations as part of ongoing efforts towards sustainability in sports events.
Ravitaillements featuring solid food options alongside water and other beverages will be available periodically on all courses, with a final refreshment stop awaiting everyone upon completion near the finish line inside the hippodrome grounds.
Dossards can be collected at designated locations prior to race day: Amiens from 12 PM to 4 PM on September 9th; Décathlon Abbeville between 9:30 AM and noon on September 12th, or at France 40 Association in Mareuil Caubert from 2 PM until 4 PM the same day. Alternatively, bibs will be available for pickup starting early morning hours of race day itself.
All participants must complete a PPS (Preventive Health Path) rather than providing medical certificates to ensure their safety and readiness for competition. This digital health assessment can easily be completed online through an accessible link provided by the organizers.
