The Supermaratona dell’Etna (Brooks SuperMaratona dell’Etna 2026) takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, starting from the beach of Marina di Cottone in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia (Sicily, Italy) and finishing at the Vulcanological Observatory Pizzi Deneri at approximately 3,000 meters on Mount Etna. This 18th edition features the 43 km "Da Zero a Tremila" (0 to 3,000) marathon with 3,000 meters of positive elevation gain, plus a 14.5 km Off-Road race from Piano Provenzana.

Event Logistics & Participant Information:
- Event History: Born in 2004 from an idea of US Tosi (Tarvisio) — Guinness World Record attempt to run from sea level to 3,000 m on an active volcano. Today it's the world's largest uphill running race and the only marathon with 3,000 m elevation gain.
- Maximum Participants: 500 for 43 km, 300 for Off-Road.
- Registration: Online via endu.net. Certificate of medical fitness for competitive athletics required (Italian participants: Sports Doctor certificate for athletics. Foreign participants: valid medical certificate per downloadable format on website).
- Insurance/Registration for non-members: Italian non-members and foreign participants pay €5 for ACSI membership for insurance coverage (request during registration on endu.net).
- License/Medical Docs: Must be uploaded on endu.net and valid on race day (June 13, 2026).
- Bib Pickup: Friday, June 12, 2026 — 9:00-13:00 and 15:00-20:00 in Linguaglossa. Off-Road participants unable to pickup Friday may pickup Saturday 9:30-10:30 at Piano Provenzana (valid reason required).
- Bibs are personal — cannot be transferred. Modifying bib = disqualification. Chip must be returned at finish or at Linguaglossa or Piano Provenzana checkpoints.
- Race Pack Includes: Official technical shirt, personalized bib, finisher medal (for finishers), transport for clothing bags (43 km only), aid stations including final refreshment, timing service, along-course assistance, medical service. Bag drop Friday only (no race morning bag drop).

- Cutoffs/Time Limits: 43 km — 7h45min total; Linguaglossa (14.5 km) at 2h30min; Piano Provenzana (33.5 km) at 5h. Runners missing Piano Provenzana cutoff receive a commemorative medal at that point.
- Athlete Transport (paid/reservation): Transfer from Linguaglossa/Piedimonte Etneo to Marina di Cottone at 6:00 AM (€10, booking at registration). Free transfers: from 3,000 m finish to Piano Provenzana (by arrival order number). From Piano Provenzana to Linguaglossa/Marina di Cottone after awards (free bus, reservation required by May 30 to [email protected]).
- Aid Stations: 14 refreshment points with water, salt supplements, solid food, and roaming refreshment. NO cups — runners must bring own bottle or cup.
- Course: Passes through historic centers of Fiumefreddo, Piedimonte Etneo, and Linguaglossa, then up Regional Road "Mareneve" to Piano Provenzana, then dirt road to 3,000 m finish. Last kilometer near Piano delle Concazze may have snow. Runners must respect the highway code — stay on the road.
- Off-Road Course: Start at Piano Provenzana (1,800 m), climb to Observatory, then descend via marked volcanic sand trail back to Piano Provenzana. Gaiters recommended.
- Safety/Checkpoints: Runners retiring must notify nearest refreshment point. Sweep buses depart Linguaglossa to Piano Provenzana at 12:15 (runners on course past cutoff cannot make time). Observatory to Piano Provenzana sweep departs at 15:10 (finish line not staffed after total time limit).
- Environmental Rules (Plastic Free): All participants must follow park regulations. Littering outside aid stations = immediate disqualification. No exiting the course.
- Permitted Gear: Trekking poles allowed (cannot be placed in bag drops).
