Explore Madeira's breathtaking landscapes on this exclusive 4-day hiking adventure with Summits Up. The journey begins at the charming Vila Camacho Guest House, nestled just outside Funchal, offering stunning sea views and easy access to local amenities like a saltwater swimming pool, sun terrace, restaurant, bar, and more.
Upon arrival in Madeira, you'll have time to unwind before embarking on a leisurely walk around the area. The evening is yours to enjoy at your own pace or join fellow adventurers for dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Friday starts early with breakfast followed by a transfer to Ilha for an unforgettable hike up Pico Ruivo, Madeira's highest peak standing tall at 1862 meters above sea level. This challenging trek offers panoramic views and dramatic landscapes reminiscent of climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland. With an elevation gain of +1400m and descent of -350m over a distance of approximately 6 miles (10km), it promises both physical and mental rewards.
After the hike, you have the option to explore Funchal's city center or simply relax at your guesthouse before enjoying dinner at another local eatery that evening.
Saturday brings an exciting day on the trails with Rabacal as our destination for the 25 Fontes (Fountains) Hike, a picturesque trek through lush forests and along serene levadas. The route features cascading waterfalls, winding paths, and even culminates in a tunnel of complete darkness, adding to its mystique and allure.
Led by Matt Buck, an experienced ultra-distance runner and qualified mountain leader with Hiking Adventures, this event ensures both safety and enjoyment on the trails. Each day offers unique opportunities to immerse yourself in Madeira's natural beauty while experiencing local culture through dining at various restaurants around Funchal.
