Stride for a Cure 5K Walk/Run returns for its third year as a vibrant community celebration aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer prevention and early detection. This annual event, spearheaded by Dr. Kim Leverett—founder of A Kick Above: A Personal Training Studio—is more than just a race; it's a testament to resilience and hope. Dr. Leverett’s journey began in 2013 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. Despite her diagnosis, she continued training clients throughout chemotherapy and radiation treatments, finding strength through fitness and community support. Since becoming cancer-free in 2014, Dr. Leverett has dedicated herself to empowering others by promoting health awareness and proactive wellness practices. The Stride for a Cure event is designed to honor survivors while supporting those currently facing the challenges of breast cancer. Participants will gather to walk or run together, creating an uplifting atmosphere that underscores unity and resilience. The race route winds through scenic local parks, offering runners and walkers beautiful views as they move with purpose towards their goal. Net proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to the Arkansas Cancer Coalition, which works tirelessly on cancer education, prevention, and screening initiatives across the state. By participating in Stride for a Cure 5K Walk/Run, every step taken contributes not only to personal health but also to broader community efforts aimed at combating breast cancer. Join us as we come together to celebrate survivorship, raise awareness, and move forward with hope towards a future where early detection saves more lives.
