About the Event

The Stornoway Half Marathon & 10k is a beloved island race held annually since 1984, celebrating its 41st edition in May 2026. The scenic course combines road and forest trails through greater Stornoway and the beautiful Lews Castle Grounds, all runnable in road shoes. It starts and finishes at the vibrant Stornoway marina, creating an exciting atmosphere with cheering crowds. After the race, participants enjoy traditional island hospitality with a post-race buffet and an energetic evening Ceilidh dance. Organized entirely by volunteers from Stornoway Running & Athletics Club, all profits support local athletics development, coaching, and youth sports travel. Additionally, Ceilidh ticket proceeds are donated to a chosen local charity each year. Set on the Isle of Lewis in the stunning Outer Hebrides, this event offers a unique combination of challenging running and genuine Scottish island culture.
