The second edition of the STHLM Trail Marathon returns on Saturday, April 18, 2026, shifting to an early spring date. Centered around the beautiful Flaten Nature Reserve in Sköndal, Stockholm, this event offers a technically demanding 15 km loop that tests both speed and endurance. With nearly 500 meters of elevation gain per lap, the course features a mix of narrow trails, hilly terrain, and off-trail sections. Whether you are a beginner looking to try trail running or an ultra-marathoner seeking the ultimate "Grit" challenge, this event provides a professional race environment with a strong community focus.

The Ultimate Test: 90 km "Grit"
The "Grit" category is designed for those who want to prove the organizers wrong by attempting to finish six laps (90 km) in under 9 hours. To qualify for the full distance, runners must start in the Ultra category and complete the first three laps within 4 hours and 30 minutes. Strict cut-off times apply at each subsequent lap: you must start lap 4 by 3:00 PM, lap 5 by 4:30 PM, and the final lap by 6:00 PM. A successful finish requires crossing the line by 7:30 PM. For the first man and woman to conquer this challenge under the 9-hour mark, a special top medal and prize money are awarded.
Nutrition, Training, and Virtual Participation
Energy and hydration are managed in partnership with Umara, providing sports drinks and snacks at the main hub in Flatenbadet and a water station at the 7.5 km mark. For those who cannot make it to Stockholm, the Hjärnloppet is a virtual 18 km race running from April 1 to April 18, with all proceeds benefiting Hjärnfonden for epilepsy research. Local runners can also join free practice runs on March 21 and March 28 to scout the course. All participants are encouraged to download the Heyey app for start lists, results, and digital challenges leading up to the race.
