Immerse yourself in one of Yorkshire's most captivating endurance challenges, the 24-hour Stanza Stones Ultra. This grueling race begins at Marsden Cricket Club and culminates on Ilkley Moor after traversing over 50 miles through the rugged landscapes of West Yorkshire’s South Pennines.
The route is a linear journey that takes you past six historic Stanza Stones, each adorned with poems by renowned poet Simon Armitage. These stones are uniquely themed around water elements—Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle, and Beck—and serve as poignant markers along the trail. As runners make their way through this scenic terrain, they will encounter vast moors, charming villages, and breathtaking vistas that highlight the region's natural beauty.
The race begins early Saturday morning at 9am from Marsden Cricket Club in Huddersfield. The previous evening offers a chance for participants to register between 5pm and 8pm at Curly Hill Scout Camp near Ilkley. For those unable to attend Friday night’s registration, there is an option on the morning of the race from 7am until start time.
