Spunch! is an innovative, family-friendly mini-adventure that invites participants to explore the charming surroundings of Heaton Mersey through a unique treasure hunt experience. This versatile event welcomes runners and walkers alike, catering to all ages and abilities without requiring any prior experience. Set at The Crown pub in Heaton Mersey, this Spunch! edition allows you to choose your own adventure with three course durations: 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or the longest option of two hours. Participants can select their preferred route on-site from 5pm onwards until the last start times for each duration. Using a colorful and interactive map via the MapRun app on smartphones, Garmin devices, or Apple Watches, you'll navigate through Heaton Mersey Park, Heaton Mersey Common, and Mersey Vale Nature Park. With over 60 SpunchPoints to collect along various routes ranging from urban paths to off-road trails, every participant has a chance to discover new spots within the area. The event encourages both solo adventurers and group outings, offering assistance for newcomers on site. Pets are also welcome if kept under control at all times. On-site registration opens early in the evening, allowing ample time to prepare before starting your adventure anytime between 5pm and 7:30pm. As daylight fades into dusk, ensure you have a torch and hi-vis clothing handy if planning an extended journey past sunset (around 8:15 pm). The venue offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxation after the event, with food options nearby including local eateries like chippies, gelaterias, and pizzerias. Getting to The Crown is convenient whether by car or public transport. Just a short drive from major motorways (M60 & M56), it's also accessible via bus routes 23, 42, and 42A with East Didsbury train station within walking distance for those arriving by rail.
