Spunch! is an innovative, family-friendly mini-adventure that blends the excitement of a treasure hunt with the joy of running or walking. This unique event offers something for everyone, regardless of age and ability level, making it perfect whether you're new to the sport or an experienced athlete.
Set against the backdrop of Bollington's charming countryside and quaint town streets, Spunch! invites participants to explore over 60 checkpoints scattered across a diverse landscape that includes rolling hills, serene woods, picturesque canals, and historic paths. The event takes place during late summer evenings, offering a mix of daylight and twilight conditions as you navigate through the scenic routes.
Participants have the flexibility to choose their own adventure with three course durations available: 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes. You can select your preferred option on the evening itself based on how much time you're willing to dedicate to this thrilling escapade. The event encourages both individual participation and team efforts; whether you prefer going solo, pairing up with a friend, or joining forces in larger groups of three or more.
Registration opens at 5pm at The Poachers Inn, located at 95 Ingersley Rd, Bollington (SK10 5RE), where participants can start their adventure anytime between 5pm and 7:30pm. Later starters should be prepared for darkness as the sun sets around 7:40pm.
The event utilizes the MapRun app on smartphones or smartwatches to track your progress, making it easy to keep tabs on the checkpoints you've visited. Each checkpoint is marked with a unique SpunchPoint that adds excitement and variety to your journey through Bollington's countryside and town areas.
For those who might be new to this type of event, there will be plenty of support available from experienced volunteers ready to guide newcomers through their first Spunch! experience.
The Poachers Inn welcomes participants with a warm atmosphere, providing food and drinks for everyone to enjoy post-adventure or during breaks in the course. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor spaces that are perfect whether you're looking for shelter from rain or seeking out some fresh air on sunny days.
