Single Mothers of Wichita Fun Run

Fundraiser Run for Single Mothers of Wichita. We are fundraising to help single mothers pay their rent and utility bills before Christmas! Winners get gift cards and cash awards. 

This is a free event unless you want to be timed by TimerGuys, I’m Melissa Johnson, owner of Kelsea’s Help Fund Single Moms of Wichita Single Mothers of Wichita Help Fund, and I’m thrilled to share that my nonprofit has been making a profound impact in the lives of single mothers in our community! Since its inception in September, we’ve had the privilege of serving over 400 single mom families with essential items like hot meals sent by Doordash, groceries from Aldis sent via Doordash, diapers, wipes, bikes for birthdays and transportation to school, oil changes, and hot meals, emergency babysitting, free transportation, maternity clothes, kid’s winter jackets, baby clothes, rent and utiliy assistance, and a safe haven for victims of domestic violence, and resources for surviors, makeup and hair cuts for job interviews by partneting with CRAVE, all thanks to the generosity of our donors and partners! I’m currently organizing a 5K event to raise vital funds for these families, and I invite you to join us in making a difference! All proceeds from the event will go directly towards paying rent and utility bills for these deserving families. My goal is to help pay off these bills so single mothers can afford to buy their children Christmas gifts this year! I’ve been humbled to see the kindness of strangers, with three donors contributing up to $800, and I’m eager to see the impact we can make together! The 5K/1-mile event, set up by Timer Guys, will take place at 10:00 am on November 30th by the Hyatt, and I’ve arranged for local businesses like Bubbas 33, Firehouse Subs, Smoothie King, Red Robin’s, Great Cips, Sport Clips, Dillards, and Chick-Fil-A to provide complimentary food, drinks, and swag! I’m also excited to offer a platform for businesses, nonprofits, and organizations to connect with these incredible mothers and offer them valuable services and employment opportunities! To continue our mission, I’m in need of $1,000 to purchase diapers for our upcoming diaper drive at the 5K event! In the past two Sundays alone, I’ve spent $600 on diapers and wipes, and I’m committed to continuing this vital support! Since starting this nonprofit, I’ve invested around $11,000 of my own funds to help these single moms, and I know that together, we can make an even greater impact. 

Any nonprofit, self employed organization, or business can put up a tent or booth for free! 

We’d love volunteers from Kapaun and Bishop Carroll as well as the public high school students!

We hired a single mom who will be our DJ for the event. She will play all types of music!
