About the Event

The 2026 Edition of the Semi-Marathon de la Camargue Gardoise is set for Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Vauvert, France. Located in the Gard department of the Occitanie region, Vauvert serves as a gateway to the Petite Camargue, a unique landscape of wetlands, salt marshes, and rice fields. This event is highly sought after for its flat, fast courses that showcase the natural beauty and traditional heritage of the Camargue biosphere. Managed by KMS Gestion, the races are known for their high demand, often reaching near-capacity weeks before the starting whistle.

Course Experience and Regional Atmosphere

The flagship Semi-Marathon offers a scenic route through the heart of the Camargue Gardoise, where runners can expect to pass by vineyards and marshes that are home to the region's famous white horses and pink flamingos. The 10 km de Posquieres—named after the medieval name of Vauvert—and the 5 km loop provide shorter, highly accessible alternatives for those looking to enjoy the atmosphere of the Gard countryside. For non-runners, the 13 km Nordic Walking event offers a technical trekking experience through the same evocative landscapes, emphasizing rhythm and nature appreciation.

Registration and Logistics

As of late March, the event is nearly sold out across all categories, with the 5 km race down to its final available slot. Registration and bib tracking are handled through the KMS portal, which also manages a waiting list for those who missed the initial quotas. The staggered start times between 9:00 AM and 9:25 AM help manage the flow of the 1,100+ total participants expected on race day. Technical timing is provided electronically, and results are published in real-time on the official site following the arrival of the first finishers.

Community and Engagement

Vauvert comes alive during the race weekend, with local support reflected in the active social media presence on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. The event is a significant driver for local tourism, encouraging participants to explore the regional wineries and the historic center of Vauvert. The organization emphasizes safety and ecological respect, ensuring that the fragile Camargue environment is protected throughout the duration of the races. Participants are encouraged to use the designated parking zones provided by the organizers to ensure smooth transit through the town center on Sunday morning.

Vauvert is a commune in the far south of the Gard department in southern France. It was known as Posquières in the Middle Ages. The commune comprises the town of Vauvert and the villages of Gallician and Montcalm. Over a third of the population work in industry, which is largely the food industry, especially wine production. The original settlement was called Posquières and was first mentioned in a document of 810. Since then the town has increased in importance and has had a rich history. At its heyday in the mid-nineteenth century it had a population of 6,000 but this decreased by a third after disease struck the grape crop, the mainstay of the economy of the area. Today, the population has grown again to over 11,000.
