About the Event

The Scottish Orienteering Score Championships return on October 24, 2026, to the picturesque Lady Culbin area at the eastern edge of Culbin Forest. This renowned technical terrain offers runners an unforgettable challenge with its intricate contour detail and runnable pine forest. Last visited for a league event in March 2025, this setting promises unique navigational challenges that will test even the most seasoned orienteers.
Competitors can look forward to engaging with various courses tailored to different skill levels and preferences. The main attraction is the Score format, where participants aim to visit as many controls as possible within a set time limit. Three distinct score courses are available:
- A 70-minute course at Technical Difficulty level 5
- A 60-minute course also rated at Technical Difficulty level 5
- A shorter but still challenging 40-minute course with a lower Technical Difficulty rating of 3
For those preferring a simpler format or younger competitors, there is an additional yellow course available.
Entries for this event open on September 22, 2026. Online registration remains open until October 19, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Limited 'cashless' entries will be accepted on the day of the race, subject to map availability and an additional £1 fee.
