On March 6, 2027, runners will converge at Cedar Ridge Preserve for an afternoon of challenging trail races. The preserve offers diverse terrain with mulch paths, solid rock sections, gravel trails, and wooden bridges over small creeks, providing a mix of switchbacks, flat stretches, steep climbs, and descents. Participants can expect to navigate through wooded areas dotted with small streams, a large pond, a lookout tower, and birdwatching stations.
The marathon begins at 2:00 pm followed by the half-marathon, both featuring chip-timed races that wind through scenic trails like Bluebonnet, Escarpment, Fossil Valley, and Possumhaw. The course includes aid stations for hydration and energy boosts along the way. Runners will enjoy a unique descent on Escarpment before tackling challenging climbs such as those found in Fossil Valley.
The 10k and 5k races start later that afternoon at 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm respectively, offering similar terrain but with fewer loops through the preserve. The half-marathoners will run their route twice, experiencing both ascent and descent on trails like Bluebonnet and Escarpment.
All participants receive hand-carved wooden medals from DR Congo as a testament to the event's commitment to supporting local Bible study groups while preserving natural habitats. Race fees support these causes and are tax-deductible (excluding T-shirts). Free photos will be available for download post-race on Run4Bibles' Facebook page.
Runners must adhere strictly to park rules, ensuring no littering or deviation from marked trails occurs. The event is weather-dependent; in case of major thunderstorms or flooding that make the trails unrunnable, organizers may cancel and reschedule participants to a future race.
Join Cedar Ridge Preserve for an unforgettable trail running experience on March 6, 2027, where nature's beauty meets athletic challenge.
