About the Event

The Run the Rock event returns for its 2026 edition on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Hosted at the iconic Hanging Rock in Woodend, VIC, this "bucket-list" race is located just an hour from Melbourne in the stunning Macedon Ranges. Organized by Sole Motive, the event offers a unique off-road adventure through trails and paths, including a lap at the base of the Rock, complemented by a vibrant event village featuring live music, food trucks, and family games.

Participation and Logistics

Runners will receive a finisher medal, electronic timing, and access to the event village, which includes a BBQ, coffee cart, and giant games. Race bib collection and the event village open at 7:00 AM. For those looking to extend their experience, a Park Ranger-guided Hanging Rock Summit Walk is available at 11:00 AM for a contribution of $20, which supports the ongoing conservation of the reserve. Please note that children under the age of 5 are not permitted on the summit hike due to the Grade 3 terrain. The event officially concludes at 12:00 PM.

Registration Deadlines

While standard registrations are typically available leading up to the race, the deadline for personalized race bibs with postage was February 19, 2026. Participants can still purchase official event merchandise during the registration process, which must be collected on-site at the event village.
