Prepare for a truly unique trail running experience at Run the Blades, one of the UK’s largest trail events, set within the stunning, industrial landscape of ScottishPower Renewables' Whitelee Wind Farm from Friday, July 17th to Sunday, July 19th, 2026. This event offers a challenge for every level, kicking off on Friday evening with a supportive 10K, followed by the demanding 50K Ultra on Saturday morning, and concluding with a challenging Half Marathon on Sunday. Runners will navigate well-marked, rolling routes under turbines that tower 140 meters overhead, encountering the event’s notoriously fun "wee hill" near the finish line. The 50K Ultra, the original distance, is the perfect, well-supported step-up for road marathon runners looking to enter the world of trail ultramarathons. The Event Village at Turbine 53 is the vibrant central hub, complete with music, a great coffee van, and a celebratory atmosphere that runs all weekend long. Participants consistently rave about the robust route signage, friendly marshals, and the premium goody bag, which includes a highly-sought-after spinning medal. Enter now for any distance—or accept the ultimate challenge by tackling all three over the weekend—and join the conversation using #runtheblades.

About Glasgow
Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland on Clydeside in the Central Belt. Glasgow reinvented itself from the 1990s, one of the most successful examples in Britain, with a range of developments in industry, culture, cuisine and architecture. It's now a lively destination meriting several days to explore, and with excellent visitor amenities in all price brackets. Its deep-red sandstone buildings have been scrubbed free of grime and the city is glorious in the sunshine, but it's a year-round place with plenty to occupy the dreich days.
