The Run4WoodsCreek race is a 4-mile run along the Woods Creek Trail in Lexington, Virginia. The race is organized by the Friends of Woods Creek (FoWC), a volunteer organization that is part of Rockbridge Conservation. The FoWC's mission is to protect, enhance, and promote Woods Creek and the associated Trail. The group has been working to remove invasive plants, monitor water stream quality, and plant native trees.
There is a link for the virtual option as well if you'd prefer not running in a group or can't make it May 9 and want to run in a self-made group of friends and/or friendly competition.
Runners, walkers, strollers, wheelchairs, and those of all abilities are encouraged to participate! The race course follows the Woods Creek Trail. Beginning and ending at the creek bridge near Waddell Elementary and turning around at the Historic Miller House Museum in Jordan's Point Park in Lexington Virginia, you will run past Waddell Elementary playground, past Lime Kiln playground, cross the bridge near old Beam Me Up BBQ, run through a cool tunnel and get a taste of Washington & Lee before getting VMI's scenic view overlooking practice fields and barracks before descending to the Historic Miller House and then returning by ascending a challenging hill before eventually gliding by the beautiful and bubbling Wood's Creek again on the return.
