Rock Ridge Gravel returns to Alma, Kansas on June 27th, offering runners and cyclists a unique mix of terrain and community spirit. This event features two running distances and four cycling options set against the backdrop of scenic countryside paths that wind through Rock Ridge's distinctive gravel roads. Participants can choose from a variety of challenges ranging from shorter runs like the Crosswinds Mental Health 5 Mile Fun Ride to longer endurance rides such as The Darkside overnight option.
The day feels alive with the hum of early summer, as temperatures hover around an average of 25 degrees Celsius and the air carries hints of moisture but remains comfortably cool. Runners navigate through a landscape rich in history and natural beauty, where the roads are lined with wildflowers and rolling hills provide scenic vistas at every turn. Cyclists pedal along routes that twist and wind over varying elevations, each mile offering new perspectives on the region's distinctive terrain.
Rock Ridge Gravel has been an integral part of Alma’s community for several years now, drawing runners and cyclists from across Kansas and beyond to come together in support of mental health initiatives championed by Crosswinds Mental Health. The event is known not only for its challenging courses but also for fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among participants. Awards are given out at the end of each race day, celebrating achievements both big and small.

Registration for Rock Ridge Gravel is available online through the official event website at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/113047/rock-ridge-gravel, where detailed information about each distance and associated fees can be found. Early bird discounts are offered until April 30th to encourage early sign-ups.
Participants must pick up their bib numbers on race morning from the Alma Community Center located at Main Street starting at 5 AM for cyclists and 6:15 AM for runners, where all necessary items such as ID will need to be presented. To ensure a smooth start, it’s important that everyone arrives well before their designated wave times.
Rock Ridge Gravel begins in the heart of Alma along Main Street with clear signs directing participants from parking lots towards starting lines and transition areas. Age requirements range widely but generally cater to adults; however, youth riders are welcome on certain routes as noted above under specific conditions outlined by Crosswinds Mental Health for safety reasons.
As June 27th approaches in Alma, Kansas, the community prepares once again to come together for Rock Ridge Gravel, celebrating fitness and mental health through a day filled with diverse challenges and shared accomplishments.
