HOBO Pace invites you to experience the enchanting trails of Sherwood Forest and beyond with their Robin Hood Ultra. With space limited to just 175 runners, this race offers an intimate setting where every participant can immerse themselves in the scenic beauty of Nottinghamshire. The waitlist is open for those eager to secure a spot, though exact entry numbers are uncertain due to cancellations leading up to race day. Previous editions saw around fifty participants dropping out before the event, but there’s no guarantee this trend will continue. This ultra course features well-marked trails that wind through Sherwood Forest and surrounding areas, offering a blend of runnable terrain with occasional undulations. The route is designed for speed, boasting a record time of 15 hours and two minutes. Runners can expect to traverse the Chesterfield Canal towpath en route to Clumber Park, where they’ll join sections of the Dukeries race route. The heart of Sherwood Forest comes alive with its picturesque trails and charming lodges during this event. Two laps through the forest provide ample opportunity for runners to soak in the historic sites and sandstone villages that dot the landscape. The course also passes by Creswell Crags, Welbeck Estate, and Thoresby Estate, offering a mix of natural beauty and historical charm. Given the dense forest terrain, navigation is straightforward with clear markings along the route. Basic refreshments are provided at regular intervals to keep runners fueled throughout their journey back to South Wheatley Village Hall. The Major Oak—a famous landmark associated with Robin Hood—stands out as one highlight on this scenic course. All participants will receive a commemorative HOBO Pace - Robin Hood medal upon completion, and t-shirts can be purchased for an additional fee. However, these must either be collected by the runner or a designated friend at the event; unsold shirts are donated to volunteers due to logistical constraints. The race starts and finishes in South Wheatley Village Hall on Sturton Road (DN22 9DH). For more details and updates leading up to the day of the run, visit www.hobopace.co.uk.
