The Ride Across Portugal (RAP) 2026 is a premier multi-stage cycling challenge scheduled from May 10 to May 16, 2026. This high-end endurance event traverses the entire length of mainland Portugal, starting at the mountainous northern border and concluding on the southern coast. While not a traditional race, the event features a unique "timed segment" format, allowing participants to compete for men's and women's classifications on specific sections while enjoying a social, non-competitive pace between segments. The route is designed to showcase Portugal’s quietest scenic roads, including a climb to Alto da Torre, the highest point in the country at 1,993 meters.

Portugal has a population of approximately 10.4 million residents. The country is characterized by a relatively homogeneous ethnic profile, with roughly 95% of the population being of Portuguese descent. The remaining 5% is comprised of diverse immigrant groups, primarily from Brazil (approx. 33% of the foreign population), Angola and Cape Verde (approx. 10%), and various European nations (approx. 15%).
