Swaledale Runners proudly presents the Richmond Castle 10K, set to take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 11:00 am. This certified race starts and finishes at The Batts, a picturesque riverside park in Richmond, North Yorkshire (DL10 4LU), offering runners an unforgettable experience along the River Swale. The course is meticulously measured to be exactly 10 kilometers under UK Athletics rules, ensuring accuracy for all participants. Runners will embark on this scenic route through historic landscapes and charming towns, with a mix of paved roads and short stretches of grass within The Batts park itself. Along the way, they'll encounter the awe-inspiring River Swale Waterfalls and cross Green Bridge to climb Sleegill. From Sleegill's summit, runners will be rewarded with panoramic views of Richmond Castle in all its majestic glory. After a brief detour around Catterick Garrison for some strategic turns, participants return to Richmond where they circle the castle on Castle Walk before descending rapidly back into The Batts park area below. Race day amenities include water stations at both the 5-kilometer mark and the finish line, clearly marked distance markers throughout the route, a first aid station, bag drop facilities (at each runner's own risk), and public toilets. All finishers will receive a commemorative T-shirt, provided that entries are submitted by September 18, 2026. To ensure safety and fairness for all participants, headphones are not permitted except for England Athletics-approved bone conducting devices. The race also has a strict cut-off time of one hour and forty-five minutes to maintain the integrity of the event schedule. The Richmond Castle 10K is designed primarily for runners aged sixteen or older; those under eighteen must secure parental or guardian consent via an electronic form submission on their behalf. Due to the course's terrain, this race may not be suitable for wheelchair athletes, runners with pushchairs/buggies, and dogs. Join Swaledale Runners in celebrating this annual event that combines athletic challenge with historical charm and natural beauty.

About North Yorkshire
Learn more about the host city, North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire is a county in Yorkshire in northern England. Yorkshire was a huge county, the largest in England, so it was traditionally divided into three "ridings" which were later re-organised into four counties. So North Yorkshire is about half the area of Yorkshire, yet still the largest present-day county.
