The Ganzenloop is an annual running and walking event that takes place on November 8, 2026. Participants can choose from three different routes: the full 27-kilometer course starting at Zwinderen and finishing in Coevorden, a shorter 17-kilometer route also between these two locations, or a more accessible 7-kilometer loop beginning and ending near Steenwijksmoer.
Registration for all distances is available until October 30, 2026. The entry fee of €10 includes reminders but does not offer refunds once paid. Organizers provide transportation from Coevorden to the start locations via bus services, which are optional yet convenient due to limited availability on race day.
The full marathon distance begins at Zwinderen with a departure time for runners from Coevorden set at 8:00 AM; participants then take off from Zwinderen promptly at 8:30 AM. For the shorter route between Zwinderen and Coevorden, two bus departures are scheduled—9:00 AM and 10:00 AM—with corresponding start times of 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM respectively.
The shortest option starting from Steenwijksmoer sees buses leaving at 11:00 AM and 13:00 PM, with starts set for 11:30 AM and 13:30 PM. Runners opting to use their own transport can select between these start times when registering.
After the event concludes around Steenwijksmoer in late afternoon, buses will return participants back from both Zwinderen and this location at approximately 3:20 PM. This allows runners ample time to enjoy the scenic trails while ensuring a smooth transition for all involved regardless of their chosen distance or mode of transport.
The race offers an opportunity to explore picturesque landscapes along rural Dutch roads with varying terrain, making it suitable for both seasoned athletes and casual walkers looking to experience the beauty of autumn in Drenthe.
