Racing Dusk

Welcome to the newest race being put on by Iron legs Running Company. This new race is different than most races out there, this one is run near the winter solstice and comprises of 3 loops that all start and finish at West Bragg Creek. What makes this race really different is that you can run the loops in any order you want, all loops to be run counter clockwise. So do you run the loop with the least elevation gain first? Do you run the longest first? Or do you go after the longest climb first? No matter what order you choose, you may not know where the other runners are and who is in the lead. It means you have to trust your strategy and push hard from the start. The time limit is 8hrs, which may sound like a lot for 20 miles but in mid-December you never know what the weather is going to be like. It could be a very cold day, there could be a foot of fresh snow, or it could be mild and dry. As the sun sets around 4:30pm this time of year, you will want to make sure you don’t take too long out there or you will be racing dusk.
