Step into the heart of Horsham for the Rotary District 7430 "Race to Zero - Let's End Polio," an inspiring family-friendly event dedicated to eradicating polio worldwide. Participants can choose from three engaging options: a chip-timed 5k run, a leisurely 5k walk, or a fun-filled 1-mile stroll along the scenic Horsham Powerline Trail. The race begins at Simmons Elementary School and winds through picturesque landscapes, offering runners and walkers alike an enjoyable experience amidst nature. Whether you're looking to challenge yourself with a competitive pace or simply enjoy the day's festivities, this event is designed for all ages and abilities. The event will proceed rain or shine, ensuring that no weather can dampen your spirit. In addition to the on-site race options, there’s also an opportunity to participate virtually by completing any distance of your choice from anywhere in the world. While virtual participants won’t receive a physical race shirt, their contributions are equally vital and appreciated for this noble cause. Proceeds from the event will support Rotary's Global Polio Eradication Initiative, which has been instrumental in reducing polio cases by over 99 percent since its inception more than three decades ago. Since 1979, when the first vaccination project began in the Philippines, Rotary members have contributed an astounding $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children across 122 countries from this debilitating disease. Race day activities kick off at 7:30 am with registration, followed by special remarks at 8:45 am before the races commence promptly at 9:00 am. The schedule features a sequence of events that cater to both competitive runners and casual walkers, ensuring everyone can contribute in their own way. Join us for an uplifting day filled with determination and hope as we work together towards eliminating polio from every corner of our world. The race is more than just a run; it's a collective effort to protect future generations from the threat of this preventable disease.
