The Race Across California is set to take place in the vibrant city of San Francisco on its first day this year. The event stretches from the state border westward towards the Pacific Ocean over a span of 100 days, offering participants numerous challenges and distances to choose from.
On race morning, runners will gather at Golden Gate Park, a sprawling green space that is both iconic and serene. As the sun rises, providing ample light for early starters, the cool sea breeze will mingle with the city's own gentle air, creating an invigorating atmosphere perfect for beginning your journey. The event fosters a sense of community as participants from all walks of life come together to support one another.
Race Across California has been running since its inception in 2016 and continues to grow each year. In 2025, over 3,000 individuals participated across various categories including individual runners, walkers, hikers, cyclists, swimmers, and relay teams. The event not only raises awareness for environmental conservation but also supports local charities and scholarships that benefit the community.
Course and conditions will find participants traversing firm yet slightly soft terrain along the park's paths. A notable feature of the course is its elevation, which gradually increases as you move westward towards the ocean. There are no aid stations planned this year due to the virtual nature of the event; however, runners can expect a challenging but manageable route with ample opportunities for hydration and rest.
The weather on race morning will be cool with an average temperature around 16°C (60°F) and minimal rainfall expected. The high humidity level at 79% may make conditions feel slightly warmer than they appear. With UV index levels indicating very high exposure, runners are advised to wear sunscreen and appropriate clothing.
The event offers a variety of distances including the Individual Walk/Run/Hike and Relay Team [600 Miles Run/Walk/Hike].
Registration for both categories is now closed. Interested participants can still sign up as individuals or relay teams, with each distance offering unique challenges suitable for all levels of runners.

The race begins in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, July 1st, with age requirements starting at 18 years old for individual participants. First-timers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the course beforehand or join training groups available through Sodisp.
