Polonia Run

The Polonia Run 2026 takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the historic 9-9bis mining site on Rue Bashung in Oignies, Pas-de-Calais, Hauts-de-France, France. This cultural and memorial trail running event follows in the footsteps of Polish miners in the Pas-de-Calais region, featuring trail distances (5km, 11km, 16km), hikes (5km and 11km), children's races (500m, 1000m, 2000m), a Polish village with artisan and culinary stands, musical entertainment, and a Polish barbecue meal option. Nearly 2,000 runners and visitors are expected.

Event Logistics and Participant Information:

• Bib Pickup / Retrait dossard: - Saturday, June 6 (10:00-12:00 and 15:00-17:00) - Sunday, June 7 (8:00-10:00) at the Polonia Village – Site 9-9bis, Oignies
• Polish Village / Polska Village: Artisan and culinary stands, Educapol stand, genealogy stand, musical entertainment by DJ MatRing and the Janosik Orchestra.
• Polish Meal Option (American'ski Party – €12): Fries, salad, choice of barbecue meat (merguez, Silesian sausage, kaszanka, or sosiski), one soft drink/beer/wine, and one Polish pastry.
• Collector T-Shirt: Available for €12 – order exclusively through the registration website.
• Exhibition / Exposition Sport i Polonia: Displays featuring Polonia Football Club, professional footballers from Polonia, athletes, cyclists, French international athletes who came from Polonia, Cercle Calonnois wrestling club, Etoile Oignies volleyball, and Rapid d'Ostricourt sports clubs.
• Costume Encouragement: Participants are encouraged to dress in white and red (Polish colors), in folk costumes, or as miners.

• Cultural & Memorial Context: The event commemorates the centenary of the Franco-Polish convention of mass immigration in Pas-de-Calais (1919-2019). More than a race – a cultural event, a work of memory.

Route and Atmosphere:

• Historic Setting: Start and finish at the iconic 9-9bis mining site – a historic and emblematic mining location in Oignies. Courses follow the actual paths taken by Polish miners who immigrated to the Pas-de-Calais region.
• Trail Routes (5km, 11km, 16km): Nature trails on the traces of Polish miners – through mining heritage landscapes, forests, and industrial memory sites.
• Hiking Routes (5km, 11km): Non-competitive walking options, suitable for families, seniors, and those who prefer a slower pace.
• Children's Races (500m, 1000m, 2000m): Free, no registration required – just show up at the start line. Named after Polish figures (Roland Melerowicz, Basia Mencik, Bronek Blonski).
• Polish Atmosphere: Polonia Village with traditional food, music, dance, genealogy research, and artisan crafts. Celebration of Polish-French heritage and mining history.
• Music & Entertainment: DJ MatRing and the Janosik Orchestra provide musical entertainment throughout the day.
• Community Spirit: More than a race – a gathering of families, runners, walkers, and history enthusiasts to honor the memory of Polish immigrants who shaped the region.
• Spectator Experience: Friends and family can enjoy the Polonia Village, Polish food and drinks, artisan stands, music, and cheer participants at the start/finish area.
