Pine Trail Run

The Pine Trail Run is a non-profit mountain race scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, in the scenic community of Pine, Arizona. Hosted by Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction (PSFR), the event serves as a fundraiser to support forest fire mitigation and trail maintenance in the Rim Country. Partnering with GhostHead Productions and Race Director Chian Ma, the event maintains a "grassroots" atmosphere with limited participation to ensure a high-quality experience on the trails.

The geography of the course is defined by the Mogollon Rim, a massive geological escarpment that provides dramatic views and technical terrain. Runners traverse trails within the Tonto National Forest, many of which are part of the Arizona Trail system. At an average elevation of 6,000 feet, the air is thinner, and the flora consists of a mix of ponderosa pines and juniper. In early May, Pine typically experiences mild to warm spring conditions with average highs of 23°C (74°F). However, because the race is organized by a fuel reduction group, participants should be aware that the local environment is highly sensitive to fire risk, and the trails themselves are designed as part of a sustainable forest management strategy.

Logistically, the event offers several amenities for travelers, including free primitive camping in the adjacent National Forest and paid camping options directly at the race venue. A dedicated shuttle service is provided to transport participants and spectators between the start and finish areas, as all races culminate at the community barn. The event is heavily supported by local emergency and communication groups, including Pine/Strawberry C.E.R.T. and the Tonto Amateur Radio Association. Registration is currently open online, and those wishing to "Breeze Through the Trees" are encouraged to sign up early due to the strict 100-runner cap per distance.
