Welcome to the 13th Annual Perpetua FatAss! Join us Saturday, January 9, 2027 , for another winter adventure on the trails of Cape Perpetua. Choose the 9 Miler, 20K, 30K-ish, or 50K . Perpetua FatAss is a free, no-frills, self-supported trail run . No medals. No swag. No traditional aid stations. Just great trails, questionable January weather, and good people. Registration is free, but required. Event Morning Yachats Commons is our headquarters. The building opens at 7:00 AM . Drop bags and post-run gear may be left inside, and parking is available around the Commons and nearby streets. The official start is 9:00 AM , but start when it makes sense for your distance and pace. Some 50K runners leave as early as 7:00 AM. Coffee will be ready by 8:00 AM , and we'll take our traditional group photo at 9:00 AM before the main start. Choose Your Adventure 9 Miler: Climb from Yachats to the Cape Perpetua Lookout, then return to the Commons. 20K: Continue from the Lookout down to the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center before returning to Yachats. 30K-ish: Decide at the Visitor Center. Take Cooks Ridge → Gwynn Creek → Oregon Coast Trail for the 30K, or Cooks Ridge → Cummins Creek Loop → Oregon Coast Trail for roughly 20 miles. Your legs get the deciding vote. 50K: Take on Cooks Ridge → Cummins Peak Road → Cummins Ridge → a short stretch of Highway 101 → Oregon Coast Trail before returning to Yachats. Maps, GPX files, and course instructions: Course Information Be Self-Supported You are responsible for your own food, hydration, clothing, navigation, and gear. Water is available at two locations along the course and at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center , but these are not traditional aid stations. Be prepared for rain, wind, mud, cold, and changing Oregon Coast conditions. Download your route and instructions before event morning. Don't rely on cell service. Post-Run Potluck After your run, head back to Yachats Commons for our traditional potluck. Bring a dish or snack to share and swap trail stories with fellow runners.
