This year’s L'Oxybike race is set to start from the leisure center "Jean Coiffier" in Essarts, featuring brand-new routes that will take cyclists through some of the most scenic areas around. The course options cater to all levels of riders, offering a range of challenges and distances. For families or beginners looking for an easygoing experience, there's the Family route, which is approximately 12 kilometers long with minimal difficulty and just 150 meters of elevation gain. This route provides a gentle introduction to cycling through nature without overwhelming technical demands. The Sportive course is designed for experienced mountain bikers who enjoy more challenging terrain. Spanning about 30 kilometers and featuring 550 meters of climbing, this ride includes one checkpoint where riders can restock on supplies before continuing their adventure across varied landscapes. For those seeking an even greater challenge, the Expert route covers a distance of around 50 kilometers with over 1,000 meters of elevation gain. This technical and physically demanding course is ideal for highly trained cyclists who are up for pushing themselves to their limits. The Expert route features two checkpoints where riders can take breaks. In addition to these mountain bike routes, L'Oxybike also offers two gravel cycling options around the Seine loop and the forest massif of La Londe Rouvray. Cyclists have a choice between a 60-kilometer course with approximately 700 meters of elevation gain and one checkpoint, or an extended route covering about 90 kilometers and climbing roughly 1,000 meters, complete with two checkpoints. The distances and elevations provided are indicative; GPS devices may show slight variations due to ongoing forest construction projects. Detailed track files in GPX format will be sent out via the event website a day before departure for participants who have registered online. Departure times vary depending on the chosen route: Expert and Gravel 90 km riders can start between 8 am and 9 am, while Sportive and Gravel 60 km cyclists begin their journey from 8:30 to 9:30 am. The Family course starts a bit later at around 9 am. At the starting line, participants will be greeted with coffee and madeleines as they prepare for an exciting day ahead. Upon returning to the finish area, there’s plenty of post-race camaraderie on offer, including hot dogs, beer or non-alcoholic beverages, along with a raffle featuring numerous prizes. Electric mountain bikes (VTTAE) are welcome at this event, ensuring that all cyclists can enjoy the experience regardless of their equipment. Whether you’re looking for an easy family day out in nature or pushing your limits on challenging terrain, L'Oxybike promises something unforgettable for every rider.
