Course Description
On the race day, all participants can easily follow the marked trail. The Oktoberfest 5k trail race will kick off outback Boal City Brewery. As soon as the start "gun" goes off, the race will begin along the gravel driveway of the 200-year-old Boal Estate Mansion. You will pass beneath ancient oak and maple trees and continue past Columbus Chapel on your left. The first part of the run will take you through recently cut farm fields that offer stunning views of the fall foliage. The trails are smooth and flowy, and they will take you through the Stan Yoder Preserve natural area and Blue Spring Park, both managed by the Center Region Park and Recreation. It's important to note that this course isn't flat, and you will encounter a few hills along the way. Follow the trail arrows, return to Boal City Brewery as quickly as possible, and enjoy a refreshing cold beer after your race. Beer and adventure make for the perfect combination!

Boalsburg is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Harris Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States, with a small portion of its northwest corner extending into College Township. It is part of the State College, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 3,722 at the 2010 census. The village claims to be the birthplace of Memorial Day. However, that claim was brought into question by Bellware and Gardiner in their book, The Genesis of the Memorial Day Holiday in America, in 2014. In their book, Bellware and Gardiner point out that the Boalsburg story was first published in 1904, forty years after the fact with no indication that General Logan drew inspiration from any activities in Boalsburg and no evidence that it started the holiday.
