OBX Turkey Trot 5K & Fun Run

🦃 16th Annual OBX Turkey Trot – ALMOST TIME TO SEAS THE RUN!! T-SHIRTS ARE NOT GUARANTEED IN YOUR SIZE OR AVAILABILITY IF YOU REGISTER AFTER NOVEMBER 3RD! We’re thrilled to welcome you back to one of the Outer Banks' favorite holiday traditions—the 16th Annual OBX Turkey Trot in the beautiful Town of Southern Shores!

Start your Thanksgiving morning surrounded by family, friends, and community spirit as you lace up your sneakers and join us for a fun-filled 5K and Children’s Fun Run. Whether you run, jog, or walk, this event is all about gratitude, health, and giving back.

• Delicious pancakes for all participants!

• Thanksgiving Pies awarded to the top male and female finishers!
• Themed finisher medals for 5K runners & GO FAR Medals for our Children's Fun Runners!
• This family-friendly event is not officially timed, so if you'd like to track your pace, bring a watch or check the clock at the finish line. 

💛 Why We Run:
Proceeds benefit OBX GO FAR (Go Out For A Run), a local non-profit dedicated to promoting healthy habits and positive character traits in children while training them for a 5K or Fun Run. Your participation helps fund scholarships, ensuring more kids can join our programs! We’re proud to have impacted over 12,000 young runners across Dare County thanks to supporters like you!

*** Online registration will open September 1st for 5K for $45 and 1 Mile Fun Run for $25. Each registered participant will receive our awesome, one-of-a-kind Turkey Trot T-shirt and custom medal during the qualifying registration period (9/1- 10/31).  $$Price increase is November 1st. LAST DAY TO BE GUARANTEED YOUR T-SHIRT SIZE IS NOVEMBER 3RD!

Late Registration Info

If spots are still available, on-site registration will be available (t-shirts will not be guaranteed at on-site registration) at Packet Pick-up Wednesday, November 26th at the Southern Shores Town Hall-Pitts Center Building from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. If Spots are available...Race Day Registration is on November 27th from 7:30 am – 8:00 am ONLY and at the Pitts Center, located at 5377 N Virginia Dare Trail Southern Shores, beside the goodwill.  THE RACE BEGINS AT 8:30AM!

Parking Info

Parking will be available at the Southern Shores town hall or at the Southern Shores Crossing shopping center off of HWY 12 on Ocean Boulevard. Please do not park in the Goodwill shopping center located behind town hall. We will have a parking attendant to advise you where to park that morning.  The 5k will start at the town hall of Southern Shores. 

Children’s Fun Run Info

During the qualifying registration period, we will be including Youth-size shirts for the FUN RUN, which is tailored for children 12 and under. This 1-mile run is scheduled to kick off around 9:30 am, immediately following the OBX TURKEY TROT!

Packet Pickup Info

Wednesday, November 26th, 3-5:30 pm at the Pitts Center building next to Town of Southern Shores Town Hall. Located at 5377 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill.

Race Course
Race Start is behind the Town of Southern Shores complex located at 5375 N. Virginia Dare Trail at the turn-off toward Duck. Next door to Goodwill. This is a point-to-point race with the Race finishing at Southern Shores Crossing Shopping Center. 

The Fun Run will begin at the Southern Shores Crossing and will be a out-and-back run.
