OBX GO FAR 2026 SPRING PROGRAM REGISTRATION

❖ WHO/WHAT: OBX GO FAR (GO OUT FOR A RUN) is a non-profit organization that offers a training program in the fall and spring to elementary and middle school age students in Dare County (Homeschool, private school children are welcome).  This season we will be training for The Miles cupcake 5K and fun run at 8AM.  Training for both 5K & Fun Runners will be 6 weeks long from March 23-May 2.  A list of location, times, and training days can be found below.

❖ COST: Cost will be the same for the 5K & Fun Run at $50 to cover gear costs for each student. Every child will receive their GO FAR T-shirt, medal and swag for participating in GO FAR.  These fees will help to cover some of the costs of these items (The average cost per child including all fees is over $110 per child).  Your child's registration in OBX GO FAR covers the cost for their participation in the Miles Cupcake 5K & Fun Run, please DO NOT complete a registration for the  race for your child.  If families/parents or siblings would like to run with a GO FAR runner in our final race you must register for the Miles Cupcake  RUN HERE: https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Manteo/MilesCupcake5kandFunRun

*SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE! If you are in need of a scholarship for your child to participate in GO FAR this season PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE A LIMIT OF ONE SCHOLARSHIP PER FAMILY!  If you are not in need of a scholarship, consider donating to our program to help provide for those families who are in need!  YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR CHILD DIRECTLY ON OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.OBXGOFAR.ORG UNDER THE SCHOLARSHIP TAB TO RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP FOR YOUR CHILD.

❖ WHEN/WHERE: Training will begin March 23rd - May 2rd.  Both 5K & Fun Run will train for all 6 weeks. Our final race will be held at the Miles Cupcake 5k and Fun Run.  Your child's registration in OBX GO FAR covers the cost for their participation in the Miles Cupcake 5K or Fun Run, please DO NOT complete a registration for the Miles Cupcake 5k for your GO FAR child.  If families would like to run with a GO FAR runner in our final race you must register for the Miles Cupcake 5k ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.OBXGOFAR.ORG!  We will hold GO FAR at 9 locations this season.  Practices will last on average 45 minutes to one hour (see specific times per site below).  Please make sure your child comes with a water bottle and proper running shoes.

❖GO FAR IS OPEN TO ALL CHILDREN ELEMENTARY AGES (K-5) AND FOR HOMESCHOOLED, PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS!  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND DARE COUNTY SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE!

❖ PRACTICE WILL BE HELD AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: (please read carefully as each site is different)

CHES will meet on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 2:30pm-3:30pm, meeting location out front of the school.  After School Students will be allowed to be dismissed to GO FAR coaches after they check in at after school and upon returning at 3:30pm the GO FAR coaches will escort them back.

FFES will meet on Monday & Wednesday, following school dismissal until 3:30pm, meeting location will be inside FFES down 2nd grade hall where students will be released to GO FAR coaches to head outside for their practice.  After School Students will be allowed to be dismissed to GO FAR coaches after they check in at after school and upon returning at 3:30pm the GO FAR coaches will escort them back.  PICK UP FOR FFES WILL BE OUT FRONT OF THE SCHOOL.  PARENTS MUST PARK IN THE PARKING LOT AND COME UNDER THE FRONT AWNING TO GET THEIR CHILD.  PLEASE DO NOT USE THE CIRCLE TO WAIT ON YOUR CHILD AS OTHER PROGRAMS ARE RELEASING AT THIS SAME TIME. 

KHES will meet on Monday & Wednesday, following school dismissal until 3:30pm, meeting location at the school is in the gym.  Students will be released to GO FAR Coaches at dismissal. After School Students will be allowed to be dismissed to GO FAR coaches after they check in at after school and upon returning at 3:30pm the GO FAR coaches will escort them back.

MES will meet on Monday & Wednesday out front of MES following school dismissal until 3:30pm when they will return to the front of the school for pick up.  After School Students will be allowed to be dismissed to GO FAR coaches after they check in at after school and upon returning at 3:30pm the GO FAR coaches will escort them back. Students of MES that are NOT in after school but who are participating in GO FAR will be allowed to send a note to their child's teacher on Monday's and Wednesday's to be released to the GO FAR program.  PARENTS OF STUDENTS NOT IN AFTER SCHOOL MUST PICK UP BY 3:30PM OUT IN FRONT OF MANTEO ELEMENTARY!

NHES will meet on Monday & Wednesday from 2:30pm-3:30pm at Dowdy Park next to Nags Head Elementary School. Students not enrolled at NHES can be dropped off at Dowdy park as early as 2:40pm.  NHES After School Students will be allowed to be dismissed to GO FAR coaches after they check in at after school and upon returning at 3:30pm the GO FAR coaches will escort them back to after school.  Students of NHES that are NOT in after school but who are participating in GO FAR will be allowed to send a note to their child's teacher on Monday's and Wednesday's to be released to the GO FAR program out in front of the school. PARENTS OF STUDENTS NOT IN AFTER SCHOOL MUST PICK UP BY 3:30PM AT DOWDY PARK!

FFMS & MMS
We will meet Monday & Wednesday immediately following 3:20pm dismissal at FFMS & MES until 4:30pm.  MIDDLE SCHOOL IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR 5K RUNNERS!  WE WILL NOT HAVE A FUN RUN GROUP AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL! A MINIMUM OF 4 STUDENTS ARE NEEDED. Students at FFMS will meet where the buses depart, just outside of the cafeteria.  Students will run around/off campus then return for pick up by 4:30pm at the same spot (parking lot between FFES & FFMS).  MMS will meet out front of the school and return for pick up at the same location by 4:30pm.

CHSS will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays immediately following dismissal until 4:30. We will practice alongside the track team. A 1 mile challenge will be available for interested participants!

OBXMS will meet during school hours.
