About the Event

Kick off the new year and a 10-race series with a true Yorkshire challenge at the Green Gateways Trail Races, offering a half marathon, 20-mile, and 34-mile ultramarathon on Saturday, 17 January 2026, starting from Otley. This meticulously organized event delivers classic Dales scenery with climbs up to 3,435 feet, utilizing shared checkpoints and a mandatory kit list to ensure safety across the crisp winter moorland. With ITRA and UTMB points on offer, live GPS tracking for all ultra runners, and a welcoming finish at Otley Cricket Club featuring homemade hot food, it's a premier early-season test for serious trail runners.

With staggered starts from 07:30 AM and a strict 19:30 event close, this January 17th race demands self-reliance and respect for the wintry Pennine landscape. It's the perfect, no-nonsense beginning to the racing calendar, where camaraderie is forged on the trail and every finisher earns their medal and t-shirt through genuine effort across the beautiful, rugged Gateways course.
