The Nordens Ark TrailRun is a unique conservation-themed endurance event celebrating its 6th edition on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Organized by IK Granit in partnership with the Nordens Ark wildlife sanctuary in Hunnebostrand, Sweden, the race offers participants a rare opportunity to run through technical coastal terrain while supporting wildlife preservation. For the first time in 2026, the event has introduced an inclusive "Para Open" class across all distances, allowing para-athletes to compete with guides or companions.

The geography of the course is exceptionally diverse, crossing the rugged meadows, forests, and granite rock slabs (berghällar) of the Bohuslän coast. The trails are known for steep climbs and technical footing, though the shorter distances utilize more gravel roads to accommodate younger runners and specific para-athletic needs. In early May, the Swedish west coast typically experiences cool, bracing spring air with average temperatures around 11°C (52°F). Because the coastal granite can become slippery if damp, and the terrain is remote, organizers strongly recommend that runners on the 8km, 15km, and 30km routes carry a first-aid kit.
Logistically, the race center is located directly at Nordens Ark, with bib collection starting at 8:00 AM. Indoor changing rooms are available, though there are no on-site shower facilities. After the race, participants and spectators can utilize the sanctuary's cafe and restaurant. For those traveling from outside the region, discounted accommodation is available on-site at Nordens Ark or at the nearby Ramsvik Stugby & Camping. Pre-registration is handled online, with price increases occurring after April 17, and medals are awarded to all children and youth finishers to celebrate their achievement in the wild.
