NorCal Backyard Ultra
About the event
Join the NorCal Backyard Ultra on October 22, 2027, for an endurance challenge like no other. This fifth-annual trail running event around Folsom Lake offers two compelling formats: The Last Person Standing and the Mini Last Person Standing. Starting at 5:00 PM on Friday, runners tackle a grueling 4.16-mile loop every hour until one remains standing. Previous champions have pushed through to an astounding total of 35 yards over 145.8 miles. On Saturday morning, starting at 7:00 AM, the Mini event offers up to 12 hours and potentially 50 miles for those seeking a contained challenge without overnight running.
The race unfolds on trails around Folsom Lake, featuring smooth paths and scenic views. Participants are reminded that due to ongoing construction, the final route will be confirmed closer to race day. Both events come with unique rewards: finishers receive handcrafted wooden awards based on distance completed, while top runners earn cash prizes including $400 for first place in The Last Person Standing event.
Aid stations at Beals Point provide essential supplies and rest areas near the start/finish line allow participants to set up personal aid stations. Rentals are available for those who need equipment or space during their stay. Volunteers also play a crucial role, earning credits toward future races by helping with course management and support.
Experience the thrill of pushing your limits against nature's backdrop in this unforgettable endurance event.
