About the Event

The Glendalough Night Challenge returns to the rugged terrain of Wicklow Mountains on October 23, 2026. This challenging course covers an 8.5-kilometer route with approximately 450 meters of elevation gain, suitable for runners aged 18 and older who are comfortable navigating technical sections under the cover of darkness. The new trail features a mix of terrain including exposed stretches along Derrybawn Ridge, offering breathtaking views but also demanding conditions due to unpredictable weather. Regular IMRA competitors will find this route manageable, yet first-time mountain or nighttime runners are strongly advised to opt for the shorter course instead. With its steep ascents and descents through varied landscapes, the Glendalough Night Challenge is a test of skill and endurance in one of Ireland's most scenic locations.
Entry deadline: October 22, 2026, at 18:00.
