New Year Lyke Wake Walk night crossing

Embracing tradition and adventure, the New Year's Eve edition of the Lyke Wake Walk promises an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking North York Moors. This challenging walk, inspired by Bill Cowley’s creation from 1955, invites participants to traverse a stunning landscape filled with rugged moorland vistas, rolling hills, and serene forests.
The route stretches approximately 39 miles between Ravenscar on the North Sea coast and Scarth Wood Moor near Osmotherley. While there is no set path, walkers are encouraged to navigate from one marker to another within a maximum of 24 hours. Groups typically complete this arduous journey in around 15-18 hours.
For those joining us on New Year's Eve, the event begins at Ravenscar mast with an assembly time of 7:30 PM. From there, participants will be transferred to Cod Beck Osmotherley or meet directly at this location for a seamless transition based on what is most convenient for all involved.
