About the Event

The 8th Napoleon Miles Run is set to take place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, offering runners the unique opportunity to experience the rich history and scenic beauty of Den Helder. This recreational race features two distances: a shorter option covering 5 English miles (approximately 8 kilometers) and a longer one spanning 10 English miles (about 16 kilometers).
The event is nestled within the historical context of 'De Stelling van Den Helder,' an extensive system of forts and defensive structures built by Napoleon in the early 19th century. Participants will run along paths that wind through this historic landscape, which includes the iconic Linie Dyke connecting several fortifications.
Registration for the race is open until Wednesday, October 8, at 23:59 local time. Early registrants can choose between two categories:
- Adults (16+ years): €7.50 for the shorter distance and €10 for the longer one.
- Youth:
- Free entry for children aged up to nine years, covering a 1.4-kilometer route.
- Free entry for those between ten and twelve years old on a 2.8-kilometer course.
- A registration fee of €2.50 applies for older youth (ages thirteen through seventeen) who will cover a distance of approximately four kilometers.
Collective registrations must be completed within fifteen minutes to ensure smooth processing during the event day rush. On-site registration incurs an additional charge: €2.50 more for both adult categories and €1 extra for older youths.
The race starts at Hotel Den Helder, with the kids' run kicking off at 10:30 AM followed by the main races starting promptly at 11:00 AM. Registration desks will be open from 9:30 AM until a quarter hour before each event begins to allow for last-minute sign-ups and number collection.
Post-race, participants are invited to enjoy a Pasta Party hosted on the hotel's inner courtyard by Hotel Den Helder. This complimentary meal is included in your registration fee of €15.50 per person if you opt-in during signup. Additional snacks and drinks can be purchased at the event for €2.50 each.
The race promises not only competitive spirit but also a celebration of local heritage, making it a memorable experience for runners and spectators alike.
