The Mt. Fuji Sanroku Women’s Trail Run is a unique athletic event dedicated exclusively to female runners. Now in its 5th year, the race is designed to be welcoming for both seasoned trail runners and beginners. Held in the scenic Fujikawaguchiko area, the event emphasizes a friendly atmosphere and a deep respect for the natural environment of the Mt. Fuji region.
Event Categories and ScheduleThe race features a single trail distance designed to be manageable yet challenging, with a generous time limit to encourage first-time participants. A staggered start system is utilized to ensure a smooth flow on the trails.
| Category | Distance | Start Time | Time Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Women's Trail Run | Approx. 13 km | May 10, 10:00 AM | 3 Hours |
Check-in is available on Saturday, May 9 (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM) or on the morning of the race, Sunday, May 10 (7:30 AM – 9:30 AM). The awards ceremony is scheduled for 12:00 PM, recognizing the top three overall finishers as well as age-group winners.
Geography and VenueThe event is centered at the Koumi Park Lawn Area in Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture. The course is situated entirely within a National Park designated area under the Natural Parks Law. Participants will run through the lush foothills of Mt. Fuji, experiencing significant natural beauty and fresh mountain air. In early May, this region typically sees mild spring temperatures around 17°C, though mountain weather can be unpredictable. Because the ecosystem is fragile, runners are strictly required to wash their shoes before the race to prevent the introduction of invasive species.
Logistics and Environmental RulesThe race operates under strict "Leave No Trace" principles. Littering is absolutely prohibited, and runners must stay on the marked trails at all times to protect the vegetation. General hikers and pedestrians have the right of way; runners must yield when encountering others on the trail. The use of trekking poles or sticks is prohibited to prevent trail damage. It is highly recommended that participants carry a hydration pack with at least 500ml of water and their own supplemental snacks.
Registration and ParticipationThe event is open to healthy females from junior high school age and up, with a total capacity of 500 participants. The registration period runs from January 15 to April 12, 2026. The venue is accessible from the Fuji Five Lakes area, with Koumi Park serving as the primary hub for the start, finish, and race expo. Any prohibited actions, such as straying from the trail or damaging forest property, will result in immediate disqualification to ensure the continued preservation of this National Park site.
