Mountain Tiger Diablo is a 12.4 mile loop straight up to Mount Diablo summit and back down an equally steep and scenic descent. We believe hard mountain runs that don't take the commitment of ultramarathons are the best. After launching Mountain Tiger Donner Summit in 2025, we're introducing our second race: Mountain Tiger Diablo, bringing the same rowdy spirit to the most badass mountain in the bay. The 12 mile route is brutal, beautiful, relentless and exhilirating – all the things we love about raw mountain running.

Course Details

The 12.4 mile course is the most direct route straight to the Mount Diablo summit (and back down) with 4,000 feet of climbing and descending. It's a loop course with a quick spur on Summit Trail. Runners will start from the Mitchell Canyon visitor area and climb 1700 feet in the first 2.5 miles by ascending Eagle Peak, then will continue straight up Bald Ridge Trail to climb to the summit of Mount Diablo. From there, the descent is steep and quad-crushing, going down 4,000 feet in 6 miles via Prospector's Gap and Back Creek Trail, down to the finish line area at Mitchell Canyon. With a cutoff of 5:00 we welcome one and all.

Registration

Entry is $95 plus fees until August 31. On September 1 registration increases to $105. On October 1 registration increases to $120. Your entry includes transportation via group shuttle from the off-site parking area (a 5 minute bus ride) to the start line/finish line, and transportation after the race back to your car, a necessary step to accommodate the limited parking lot at the race area.
