Mountain Peacock 50k

About the Event

Embark on an unforgettable ultra adventure through Golden, Colorado’s rugged terrain at the Mountain Peacock 50k. This third-annual race offers runners a no-frills experience that harks back to the essence of true trail running.
The challenge lies in conquering four distinct peaks within one day: South Table Mountain, North Table Mountain, Mount Galbraith, and Lookout Mountain. Each loop begins and ends at Parfet Park, serving as both your starting point and sole aid station for this epic journey. The total distance is approximately 50 kilometers, designed to test even the most seasoned trail runners.
Participants will navigate a course that echoes the spirit of legendary ultra events like Barkley Marathons. Instead of relying on traditional race markings or chips, runners must find a book at each summit and tear out a page as proof of their achievement. This old-school approach adds an element of adventure and camaraderie to the experience.
To ensure safety and success on this challenging course:
- Bring one gallon of water (or your preferred hydration solution).
- Pack a delicious snack, ideally homemade, for sharing at Parfet Park.
- Carry essential trail running gear including navigation tools such as maps or GPS devices.
- Embrace an adventurous spirit along with a good sense of humor.
The Mountain Peacock 50k is free to enter and operates on the principles of community support. Registration helps us gauge attendance, but there are no entry fees. Instead, consider making a donation to your chosen charity in lieu of payment. We’ll be ordering pizza for everyone who participates!
This self-supported event encourages runners to familiarize themselves with the course beforehand due to minimal aid stations and markings. The race day starts as early as 7 AM and continues until park closure at 9 PM, allowing participants flexibility in their pacing.
The Mountain Peacock vibe is all about challenging yourself amidst Colorado’s stunning natural beauty while fostering a sense of community among trail runners. Whether you complete all four peaks or just tackle one or two loops, your contribution to the spirit of this event is invaluable. Stick around after your run for some well-deserved pizza and camaraderie.
For more information and race day details, contact the Race Director via the "Ask a Question" button on our webpage. Are you ready to get peacocky? Join us in Golden’s mountains and embrace an epic adventure that celebrates classic ultra running traditions!
Safety is paramount; adhere strictly to Leave No Trace principles by packing out all waste. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, know your limits, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow runners at Parfet Park throughout race day.
Registration opens soon – mark November 15, 2026 on your calendar and prepare to make memories that will last a lifetime!
