About the Event

The Mount Evans Freedom Run 5K returns to Evergreen, Colorado on July 4th, 2026.
Starting at 8am sharp from Evergreen Middle School, the race follows a scenic and hilly course through residential neighborhoods. The route weaves its way past charming homes and lush greenery before arriving at the finish line near the Evergreen Athletic Club where runners can enjoy a festive after party complete with an awards ceremony for peer to peer fundraisers.
For over four decades, Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice has been providing essential care in our foothill and mountain communities. This beloved Fourth of July event supports their mission by raising funds that go towards compassionate home health and hospice services. Whether you run the 5K or participate as a spectator, this community-run race is an integral part of Evergreen’s Independence Day celebrations.
The course venue features firm but slightly soft trail conditions, typical for early summer in Colorado. With average temperatures around 19°C on race morning, participants can expect mild to warm weather with minimal humidity at just 47%. The day promises plenty of sunshine and a UV index of Very High, so sunscreen is highly recommended.
The Mount Evans Freedom Run offers both adult and youth distances: the Adult 5K costs $44.79 while Youth runners (17 & Under) can participate in the same race for just $23.39.
